What is CRM?

CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management; it is not Customer Relationship Marketing. Marketing focuses traditionally only on the customer interface, whereas management is understood to be involved in every level and function of an organization. Management includes "sub-categories", such as marketing management, human resource management or production management. Therefore, CRM requires organizational and business level commitment, which is based on the natural customer-orientation.

The objective of CRM is more than increasing sales transactions. CRM emphasizes also the importance of increasing profitability, revenue and customer satisfaction. Basically, CRM is a management concept, which should be derived from the strategies, and the strategies should be put to work in the operative level of the corporate.
